The sixth volume of Academic History of Ugra contains a comprehensive description of the unique Russian region in the first half of the twentieth century. 1917-1953 in the history of Ugra - a period saturated with the most important and historically significant events: the revolutionary upheavals of 1917 and the ensuing Civil War, the creation of the Khanty-Mansiysk National District, the establishment of the Soviet economy and a new way of life for the inhabitants of the region, the appearance on its territory of exiled peasants and deported peoples, the heroic labor and front-line exploits of Ugra residents in the Great Patriotic War, the discovery in the district in 1953 of the Berezovsky gas field.
