Dozens of articles and books abroad are devoted to questions about who Akhenaten was, what were the foundations of his worldview and why his reforms were such a blow to ancient Egyptian civilization. To adherents of the orthodox domestic scientific diversity of Egyptology, they may seem too frivolously written. For those familiar with ancient Egyptian history, the book may seem somewhat biased, with chapters in which the author attempts to prove his own vision of Amarna's reality.
