Theory and methods of solving various variational problems with illustrations of analytical and numerical methods for their solution are presented. The emphasis is on numerical solutions using the mathCAD mathematical package. All problem solutions are brought to "number." The appendices contain algorithms and programs. It is based on lectures given by the author at the Faculty of Computer Technology and Applied Mathematics.
