The book includes an essay on the Old Russian accent system and an accentological dictionary of the Old Russian and Old Velikorussian language (XIV-XVII centuries). This second edition is significantly expanded compared to the first, it contains about 14,400 articles (i.e. 2,300 more articles than the first). The dictionary is based on a survey of about 150 Old Russian and Old Velikorussian written monuments of the indicated centuries (i.e. covers about 35 additional monuments that did not participate in the first edition). The book belongs to that department of historical Russian studies, which has not yet been developed at all and in the general courses of the history of the Russian language is either absent at all, or is represented only by fluent (and often inaccurate) remarks. It is designed to help eliminate this "white spot" in the complex of knowledge about the history of the Russian language. The publication is intended both for specialists (linguists, literary scholars, historians), and for all those interested in the history of Russian words and their stress.
