Composite (midpoint map) is a powerful relationship analysis tool. It is a development of the principle of synastry and reveals deeper layers of information arising from the combination of two natal (or some other) maps. Presenting the synastric aspects in a different form, the composite allows you to study the slices of relationships that remain unnoticed when simply superimposing two circles of horoscopes. Widespread interest in this type of map arose in the mid-1970s after the appearance of books by J. Townley and R. Hand.
